Operations commence at EDF-owned, 102.5MW Shiloh IV Wind facility in US

EDF Renewable Energy has commenced commercial operations at the 102.5MW Shiloh Wind Project in US.

Located in Solano County, California the facility employs 50 REpower MM92 turbines to generate electricity for 40,000 American homes.

EDF Renewable Energy president and CEO Tristan Grimbert noted that the project was a reminder of the technological innovations and progress in the wind industry over the years.

California utility Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) has agreed to a 25-year power purchase agreement to procure power generated at the facility.

PG&E procurement senior vice president Fong Wan added, "Shiloh IV demonstrates our ongoing commitment to provide PG&E’s customers with sustainable green power today and as California marches forward into a clean energy future.

"PG&E delivers some of the cleanest energy in the nation to our customers, more than half of which comes from sources which are carbon free."

EDF has also announced the financial closure of the project that was secured via a sale-leaseback transaction involving the Union Bank of California Leasing.

The bank had earlier offered EDF $5bn in financing facilities over the last 10 years with $1.6bn provided in 2012 alone.
