Edeniq to install Cellunators technology at Aemetis biomass plant

Aemetis will install the technology at its Advanced Fuels Keyes plant in California to enhance ethanol yields and undertake large-scale commercial testing of Edeniq’s cellulosic ethanol Pathway platform.

The Cellunator technology will now enable better conversion of feedstock particles from corn and other plant materials to produce sugars at the Keyes facility, which annually generates about 60 million gallons of ethanol.

Cellulosic ethanol Pathway platform also integrates enzymes with the Cellunator to produce cellulosic ethanol from existing plant infrastructure.

Aemetis chairman and CEO Eric McAfee said that this partnership will allow the company to expand advanced biofuels production.

"The addition of Edeniq’s technology is expected to immediately improve our ethanol yield, and allow us to produce cellulosic ethanol at commercial scale by upgrading of existing corn ethanol production facility," McAfee added.

"Edeniq’s technology will help us lead the transition to next generation, lower carbon, lower cost biofuels derived from a variety of renewable feedstocks such as grasses, agricultural residues, and purpose-grown energy crops."

Edeniq president and CEO Brian Thome noted, "The installation at Aemetis will allow us to work together to begin to utilize non-food plant material and will further demonstrate Edeniq’s mission of leveraging current industry assets to bring additional unrealized ethanol fuels to market."
