GE to deliver wind turbines to 180MW Meikle Wind project in British Columbia

GE has won a contract to supply turbines for the 180MW Meikle Wind project located approximately 33km north of Tumbler Ridge in the Peace Region of British Columbia.

The company will supply 61 turbines, which will be a mixture of 35 units of GE’s 3.2-103 turbines and 26 of its 2.75-120 turbines.

According to GE, the 3.2-103 turbines are capable of generating a large amount of energy for medium-to-high wind speed sites, the blades measure 50.2m and have noise of 105dBA.

The 2.75-120 turbines have 120m rotor combined with single-blade pitch control and provides load management controls, low acoustic emissions, and efficient electrical power conversion.

The 180MW Meikle Wind project will be the largest wind project in British Columbia and is expected to increase the installed wind power capacity in the Canadian province by 38%.

After completion, the project will supply enough power to meet the energy needs of 54,000 households.
