Element Power signs power purchase agreement with KCP&L

Element Power US, an owner and developer of Mill Creek Wind Farm, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations (GMO).

The 200MW wind energy facility is planned to be built in Holt County, Missouri, US.

Element Power is expected to invest around $400m for the construction of the Mill Creek Wind Farm project in the state of Missouri.

The company has leased approximately 25,000 acres of land for the project, which was acquired from more than 100 landowner partners.

According to the project owner, the construction of the facility is scheduled to commence during the third quarter of 2014, with commercial operation expected to begin by the end of December 2015.

Currently, the company is working with local, state, and federal entities on regulatory and environmental reviews.

The new project is expected to create 300 new jobs in the region during construction phase and 12-14 full-time jobs as well as many other benefits to the local economy during operation phase.

When operational, the project is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 60,000 homes.
